2009 Applications are now open!
WhiteSci awarded 10 travel awards in 2008, to students from a variety of institutes, including Wits, UCT, University of KwaZulu Natal, University of Stellenbosch and University of Pretoria. We received some very enthusiastic feedback from some of the successful applicants and so it seems as if this is a scheme worth extending! |
This year WhiteSci plans to make fourteen awards of R3000 each. Please consider applying if you are a full time, post-graduate student, studying for an MSc or PhD in cellular or molecular sciences and plan to attend a scientific conference or meeting before February 2010. Applicants are required to fill in our travel awards application form, which can be downloaded at www.whitesci.co.za . The application form includes a section to be filled in by the principal investigator supporting the application. We will verify conference registration and travel arrangements before awards are paid out, and therefore we encourage applications from students who have already secured some additional funding to cover the balance of these costs. We would like to support students from institutions all around South Africa with awards! The awards will be made in two rounds. To be considered for an award in the first round, please send your application to reach us by no later than 31st March 2009. The first round of awards will be made by the end of April 2009. Applications for the second round should be submitted by 30th of June and applicant will be notified by the end of July 2009.
