The Covaris g-TUBE is a single-use centrifuge-based DNA shearing device for producing large DNA fragments in the 6–20 kb size range — without requiring a Covaris focused-ultrasonicator. Sample DNA is pipetted into the g-TUBE and centrifuged at a specified speed for two cycles; the integrated shearing membrane produces a tight, reproducible fragment size distribution determined by centrifuge speed.
The g-TUBE is ideal for long-read sequencing library preparation (PacBio SMRT, Oxford Nanopore Technologies) and other applications requiring high-molecular-weight DNA. Up to 24 samples can be processed simultaneously in approximately 3 minutes.
