The TIANGEN GeneRed Nucleic Acid Dye (RT211) is a sensitive, safer-alternative fluorescent gel stain for the detection of double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), and RNA in agarose and polyacrylamide gels. GeneRed has the same spectral characteristics as ethidium bromide (EB) and can be directly substituted for EB without changing existing UV transilluminators, filters, or gel imaging systems.

GeneRed can be used for pre-staining (gel dyeing method, added directly to the molten agarose) or post-staining (soaking method), providing maximum flexibility for standard electrophoresis workflows. It is compatible with standard UV transilluminators at 302 nm excitation and with both standard EB filters and SYBR® filters.

Key features:

  • Same spectral characteristics as ethidium bromide — direct drop-in replacement
  • Compatible with standard UV transilluminators (best excitation near 300 nm) and EB/SYBR filters
  • Detects dsDNA, ssDNA, and RNA — versatile single-stain solution
  • Suitable for agarose gel and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis
  • Compatible with pre-staining (gel dyeing) and post-staining (soaking) protocols
  • Suitable for all fragment size ranges
  • 10,000X concentrate; 500 µL per vial

Applications:

  • Routine agarose gel staining for DNA and RNA visualisation
  • PCR product verification and restriction digestion analysis
  • Polyacrylamide gel staining for small nucleic acid fragment analysis
  • Direct replacement for ethidium bromide in existing electrophoresis protocols
